Lara Alami, mezzo-soprano, has performed with Sounding Light chamber choir under the direction of Tom Trenney, including performing as a soloist in St. John’s Passion and on Sounding Light’s Clear Blue Morning recording (title track). She also sings in the professional ensemble Vocal Arts Ensemble Cincinnati under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson, and Oregon Bach Festival under the direction of Matthew Halls. Lara has performed in Aramaic as ethnic soloist in Carl Jenkin’s Stabat Mater with Detroit Metropolitan Chorale, and as soloist and alto section leader with the Detroit Concert Choir. She performs weekly with small ensembles at both St. John’s Episcopal Church of Detroit (Summer season) and with First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, MI, where she was recently featured as a soloist in Durufle’sRequiem. Lara is wife to Faris, and mother to three children. When she is not singing, she enjoys watercolor and oil painting.
